Beautiful Shapes

I’ve created a card for this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge GDP351 using Beautiful Shapes dies and Splendid Thoughts stampset.

The challenge is all about using shapes and the hexagons in Beautiful Shapes fitted the brief perfectly.

I started by creating my stamped layer, I stamped in Pool Party, Soft Sea Foam and Fresh Freesia. These colours all feature in the dsp I chose for my die cut hexagons.

After I had stamped, I embossed using the Merry Melody 3D embossing folder and then roughed up the edges using a blade from my snips.

The Splendid Day dsp really is quite beautiful, I've cut three different sizes and used some foiled and some flat, The great thing about creating a design with small shapes is you can use up paper scraps not much good for anything else.

My sentiment is heat embossed in white on Blackberry Bliss cardstock. Charming sentiments is such a clever set with dies closely fitting the sentiments. You do need a little masking tape or low tack tape to hold it in place though.

Before I stuck on the embossed layer, I looped some white Bakers Twine around it, a bow was tied after I stuck the hexagons in place. Lastly the sentiment was stuck in place and a couple of Brushed Brass Butterflies added.
