Brightest Glow Christmas

I set myself a challenge to create some cards using existing ‘non Christmas’ stamps and dies with just the sentiment coming from the wonderful Brightest Glow set.

I have predominantly used Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, Cherry Cobbler and Gold, all of which feature in the beautiful Lights Aglow dsp that I’ve used on the two square cards.

Here's how each of them came together with product links for what was used.

Season's Greetings

I think this might be my favourite, simply stamped with a bit of masking to create the tree line.

I first stamped the sentiment in Evening Evergreen, placing it centrally but near the bottom.

Next I die cut a small circle from a post it note and placed it on the Watercolor Shapes large rectangle stamp. With the circle mask in place I inked up with balmy blue then carefully removed the mask before stamping. The moon space was then stamped in (stamped off) So Saffron with the smallest circle from Watercolor Shapes.

I masked off the bottom of the card (also the side areas to prevent any accidental touches) and started stamping my pine trees.

How did I create the trees? Upside down wisteria from Wisteria Wishes! I did the single more detailed stamp first in Evening Evergreen and then just inked one of the trio of wisteria to over stamp in Soft Succulent. The mask enabled me to create trees of different heights whilst keeping the bottom level.

'Tis the Season

This card is also simply stamped with some ribbon and gems to embellish it and the sentiment has been die cut.

I have used an old favourite, Forever Fern to stamp the leaves and dots around the outside of my white layer. The sentiment has been stamped on a banner from Stylish Shapes, the larger Cherry Cobbler banner was die cut and then repositioned to die cut again to create a shorter piece.

The little loops of twine were stuck down before the sentiment was added using dimensionals.

Merry Christmas

Cottage Rose is such a beautifully detailed stamp, it was nice to use it here with just some minimal colouring on the flower.

My sentiment has been stamped directly onto the card base and then a piece of Cherry Cobbler and gold Lights Aglow dsp has been placed at the top. I created a gold scalloped edge using a die from Penned Flowers.

I stamped two sets of each the large flower and leaf and the separate leaf stem. The leaves have been coloured with Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends and then some Garden Green has been added using a watercolour pencil. The flowers have a little Ivory Stampin' blend colouring and then some Daffodil delight pencil. Lastly I added Cherry Cobbler to the small flower spray and Early Espresso to the leaf stems, both of these were coloured with the pencils.

Each of the stamped and coloured images were die cut and then the flowers were layered one on top of the other using dimensionals. The bottom flower doesn't really show but the spray and foliage does.

Before sticking to the card I added a couple of loops of gold twine, then stuck the flower pieces in place and tucked in the extra leaf stems.

Lastly I added a few gold coloured Brushed Metallic Gems.

To you and yours this Christmas

My final card is in black and gold and adds an embossed layer.

The Lights Aglow dsp selection really is beautiful and here I've used one of the black and gold designs. The wreaths have been cut from both gold foiled card and the centre of the dsp piece behind.

My white square has been embossed using Merry Melody 3D embossing folder, this was then stuck centrally over the dsp happily covering up the area which I had die cut.

Once the wreaths were stuck in place I added a gold twine bow and some gold Festive Pearls.

The sentiment is stamped in black and then die cut using Stylish Shapes.

So there we have it, with some good Christmassy colours and a selection of Seasonal sentiments it really is possible to make gorgeous Christmas cards with everyday stamps. Perhaps you have some stamps in your stash that you hadn't considered for Christmas before.
