Chic scraps

Have you seen the Chic dies in the new annual catalogue? I love the Texture Chic dsp and bought that straight away, didn’t think I needed the dies…..wrong!

I didn't buy the bundle, these work really well as stand alone dies. I love the mixture of leaves, flowers and snowflakes, there's even some shells to make cards with a beach/holiday theme.

I've called this Chic Scraps, as scraps is exactly what I used! I had lots of little pieces of New Horizon (retired) dsp and set about die cutting a load of shapes. You could do this with so many different papers, anything with an abstract pattern and a range of colours will work.

I created four different cards and each one had a little colour applied using a blending brush, for the snowflake card I used Starry Sky.

I then set about adding my snowflakes, using the tiniest amount of glue and allowing some to overhang the edge of the white layer. That said I did afterwards decide to trim it down a little as I wanted to add a coloured base layer.

My sentiment is stamped in the same colour as the base layer, Starry Sky for this one. Charming Sentiments is the set I used for all four cards. It has such a great range of sentiments in really interesting fonts. I have the bundled dies (so clever!) but didn't use them for these cards.

I'm not going to say these were a quick make, the die cutting and sticking on took a while, but I love the idea of having a stack of these die cut elements to make or even just enhance a card. So don't ever throw away those little pieces of dsp, you never know when you might be able to put them to good use!

If you are interested in purchasing any of the items used here, you will find product links below. Please use this months host code and if your order is over £30 you will get a hand made thank you card and small gift from me.

Thanks for looking,

Katie x
