These gnomes are definitely not just for Christmas!
My card is for a Global Design Project case the designer challenge, #348 . I love Krista's card, the simplicity, the white space, the subtle colours, I just love it.
I've chosen to create a card with a similar feel. I started with my white layer and after masking off all but a roughly rectangular shape, I heat embossed in clear the word friend (Happiness Abounds) several times.
After heat embossing the words, I removed the mask and added Coastal Cabana and a little Bermuda Bay using a blending brush. Happy Birthday has been simply stamped at the bottom in Bermuda Bay.
My little gnome friend is all die cuts, his hat has been cut from Storybook Gnomes dsp (available from this Friday!). It's so easy to make up these guys, literally four die cut pieces and good overlaps to stick him together. His nose has been added with a dimensional.
A Coastal Cabana layer between the card base and the white rectangle gives a nice defined edge and I just had to add a couple of toadstools, the pop of red is a lovely contrast to the subtle blue/green colours.
