Perfect Birthday

Here is my card for the first Casually Crafting Designers blog hop of 2022.

The theme this month is a sketch challenge and I have chosen to use Blessings of Home with the co-ordinating Heart & Home dsp in rich warm colours.

I wanted to make a card with a bit of a vintage feel and started by creating the stamped image. I trimmed a piece of watercolour paper and tore the right hand edge, the flower image has been stamped in Cinnamon Cider.

I let the ink dry before I started colouring using drops of ink and a water painter. It needed to be dry as I wanted some of the Cinnamon Cider to colour the image but at the same time retaining the image lines. I have used Garden Green for the stems and leaves and Pale Papaya for the petals with a little Early Espresso for the flower centres.

Once the image had been coloured and was dry, I used a blending brush with Pale Papaya and then Cinnamon Cider to add a little colour to the background.

The card base has been stamped with the larger floral image and I have cut strips of Pale Papaya cardstock and dsp to go across the middle. The birthday sentiment is from the same set and once trimmed I rubbed the blending brush over to add a hint of darker colour.

For texture I have added a bow of Linen Thread and Pale Papaya ribbon cut lengthways and some copper coloured Brushed Metallic Dots.

I wonder what the other design team members have created for this challenge, you can check them out by clicking on the links below.
