Hand Penned Beautiful Shapes

My first card of 2022 is for a ‘copy the catalogue’ creative challenge. I have copied a design from the new Jan-Jun catalogue which is out today.

I have used the Hand Penned Petals bundle and matching dsp from the annual catalogue and Beautiful Shapes dies from the new one.

The dsp is so pretty, I love every side of every sheet and cards like this one are a great way of using up the scraps that you can’t bring yourself to throw away.

I chose my base layer and then die cut the hexagons in a variety of patterns and some white. The patterned ones then have a white half over the top.

I laid out a pattern following the catalogue card as closely as I could. Once I was happy with the position of the die cut pieces I started to stick them in place.

I stuck my first hexagon on and then used the piece I had cut a pair from as a template to line up each of the pieces in turn. It made it so much easier to space them evenly.

The sentiment has been heat embossed in white onto Highland Heather card stock and the little flower and leaf pieces have been die cut using colours in the dsp. The trickiest job was adding the tiny yellow flower centres, double sided tape on the back of the flower and patience is what was needed.

I chose Pale Papaya Open Weave ribbon for behind the sentiment but trimmed it lengthways as it was a little too wide.

I’ve enjoyed recreating a card from the catalogue but at the same time making it my own, maybe you would like to have a go too.
