Quilted Heart and Home

There is a set of dies in the new Jan - Jun catalogue which I predict will be very popular, it’s called Beautiful Shapes and includes different sized hexagons. As soon as I saw it I thought of quilting.

I’ve never made a quilt in my life but that didn’t stop me having a go at a paper version.

I started by die cutting a pile of hexagons using Heart and Home dsp, I really like the rich warm colours and chose Cinnamon Cider as the background layer.

I wanted to try and space them evenly so used a ruler and grid paper to work on the first row which would end up as the right hand side. Once the first row was in place it was reasonably easy to work down making sure to overhand at the edges.

I trimmed off the overhanging pieces and then used the die to cut a zig zag edge to the base layer using a little masking tape to hold the die in place.

I didn’t want to add much more to the card as it is quite a ‘busy’ background so I just added a piece of die cut greenery using Flowers of Home dies, a sentiment, strands of ribbon and twine simply tied together in the middle and a few glittery Genial Gems.

Would you like to see the new catalogue? If you are in the UK and would like a paper copy, send me a message by going to my 'Contact Me' page and I‘ll happily pop one in the post for you. Alternatively on 4th January you will find links to the online version on my ‘Catalogue’ page.

Thanks for looking, I will be back soon sharing some more new products.
